Suzlon solar energy for powering project in Nashik

  Thursday, 19-02-2009 at 07:34:40 AM

Mumbai , Feb 19 Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy today said it has undertaken a pilot to power its project site at Adwadi in Nashik with solar energy.

"This project is another step forward in our commitment to powering a greener, emission-free future and we aim to replicate this initiative across our sites in the country," Suzlon Energy President (India) Rohit Modi said in a statement here.

Stating that most of the wind farms are located in remote areas which calls for diesel generator back-up to meet the power requirements at site offices, he said this initiative would reduce fuel utilisation and carbon emissions at windfarms.

"It eliminates the need for generator sets, diesel and oil consumptions, emissions and providing long-term cost savings," Suzlon Energy said.

Suzlon has partnered with Tata BP Solar India for the project.

The 51:49 joint venture company between BP Solar and Tata Power would supply 20 photovoltic panels to Suzlon Energy for the project.
