MUMBAI: German auto component maker Bosch said it will briefly stop producing some vehicle parts at its manufacturing facilities in India for guarding against inventory pile up due to slowdown in the country's automart.
The company would stop producing some selected auto components at its Naganathapura plant for four days, while productions of few parts at Nashik facility would be stopped for two days during the current week.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Bosch said it would stop “the manufacturing activity of starters and generators at its Naganathapura plant starting from November 26 to November 29, 2008''.
The company said the slump in demand has forced it to take this step to match with production levels.
“In order to adjust production to meet the demand for products and to avoid unnecessary inventory buildup'' the company is closing down temporarily select facilities, the filing added.
Bosch has also decided to hold production of some components at its Nashik plant for two days. - PTI
